Abstract
This research paper examines the feasibility of implementing Universal Basic Income (UBI) as a tool to fight poverty and inequality in the United States. About 11.8% of the U.S. population live in poverty and are unable to provide for food, shelter, healthcare, and education. A variety of peer-reviewed sources, books, and case studies were used to evaluate UBI. Unfortunately, UBI shows to be extremely costly, does not solve the systematic inequality, and lacks uniformity to ever be implemented. Although the number of benefits is greater than the disadvantages, the power and consequences of the disadvantages are far greater.
