Abstract
Recently, the United States has seen an influx of immigration from El Salvador. Many migrants come to seek asylum in the United States, fleeing a country hurt by gang violence and corruption. As of late, the United States has adopted an isolationist immigration policy, even mandating asylum seekers to wait in Mexico. This essay examines the history and contemporary relationship between the United States and El Salvador. Through evaluating the United States' intervention in Salvadoran politics, the author argues that the current wave of Salvadoran immigrants was indirectly caused by American actions. Therefore, the United States should accept Salvadoran immigrants.
