Major: Cyber Security
Sophomore; College of Computing and Digital Media
Abstract
This paper analyzes the 1973 film The Sting, directed by George Roy Hill. The paper compares crime in Chicago and Joliet (the two cities where the film takes place) in the film and in real life during the Great Depression. The film accurately portrays crime rates in Chicago during the Great Depression, and it also accurately portrays criminals at the time. Due to the underlying themes found in the film, the essay analyzes the amorality of the characters within the film, as well as their true counterparts, all while displaying the impact of this on the cities of Chicago and Joliet.
