"Upholding Human Dignity through Story in Augmented Reality"

Major: Animation
Freshman; College of Computing and Digital Media
Abstract
In this paper, I will be exploring how emerging Augmented Reality technology can provide a unique way to tell stories and encourage empathy. Though Augmented Reality can provide numerous opportunities for entrepreneurial endeavors, more humanitarian efforts are often neglected. I will be approaching the subject of Augmented Reality through St. Vincent DePaul’s goal of universal respect for human dignity. Through researching the concepts of empathy and storytelling in general as well as emerging Augmented Reality technology, I will argue that Augmented Reality can provide an immersive storytelling experience that will inspire a deeper respect for human dignity.
